My name is Amy Gregory, or Ms. Gregory with the students. I am originally from the metro-Detroit area, and earned my undergraduate teaching degree at Michigan State University in 2004. I moved to Grand Rapids in 2005 when I got my job at the ECC. This is currently my ninth year teaching 1st grade at the ECC. I love the Godfrey-Lee community, and feel very privileged to work with the students and families in our district.
In August 2011 I received my Masters Degree at Grand Valley State University on how to teach English Language Learners. I often work with students who are working on becoming proficient English speakers. I am conversational in Spanish, so Spanish speaking parents please feel free to come in and talk to me about your child.
Outside of work I have a lot of hobbies. During breaks from school I enjoy traveling, and have traveled to Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Malaysia, and Singapore. I have also traveled to various places in the United States, usually to see my family and friends who are spread out across the country. I grew up playing soccer, and still occasionally play on recreation leagues. I am also a runner, and completed my first full marathon (26.2 miles!) in October 2011. I enjoy gardening, and manage the school garden at the ECC. I have worked doing organic farm labor in the past, and LOVE cooking and eating fresh, locally-grown vegetables. My other hobbies include reading, listening to music, and listening to public radio.
